The Podocarpus macrophyllus, commonly known as the Yew Plum Pine, is a versatile evergreen prized for its long, leathery, dark green needles. It naturally grows in a tall, narrow, upright shape, making it a popular choice for dense privacy screens or formal hedges. It is a slow-to-moderate grower that is very easy to maintain because it handles heavy pruning well and isn't fussy about soil types. While mostly grown for its clean, architectural foliage, mature plants also produce unique, fleshy purple seeds that look like tiny plums.
