The Jonagold Apple is a large, high-producing fruit with red blush over yellow-green skin, resulting from a cross between the Golden Delicious and Jonathan varieties. It's typically harvested in late September or early October. A significant characteristic is its sterile pollen, meaning it requires the pollen of at least two other compatible apple cultivars to ensure successful pollination. Fortunately for growers, the Jonagold shows resistance to several fungal diseases, including cedar-apple, cedar-quince, and cedar-hawthorn rusts.
